About Capstone Behavioral Healthcare
Serving Central Iowa communities with compassionate, quality behavioral health care since 1968.
Our History
Capstone Behavioral Healthcare was founded in 1968 with a simple but powerful mission: to help people in Central Iowa live healthier, more fulfilling lives by addressing mental health and substance use challenges. For more than 55 years, we have grown alongside the communities we serve, expanding our programs and services to meet evolving needs.
Today, Capstone operates two offices — in Newton and Grinnell — and provides a full continuum of behavioral health services, from outpatient therapy and psychiatry to community support and integrated care coordination.
Our Mission
“To promote mental health, and reduce the impairments associated with mental disorders, substance abuse, and chemical dependency by providing education, support, and treatment services.”

- Compassion — treating every person with dignity and respect
